GAMA announces launch of "www.GAMA.aero"

WASHINGTON, DC, The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) announced today the launch of its new website utilizing the .AERO domain. The new site, www.GAMA.aero, is one of the first in the world to use the Internet domain name dedicated to a specific industry and is exclusively reserved for aviation and aerospace-related entities and individuals.

The site has several tools that will facilitate information sharing and collaboration among GAMA's committees and its member companies in an easy to use and fast format. Registration and logistics for GAMA's meetings are now handled entirely online through the website. Nearly all of the Association's databases and information systems have been moved online and are available 24/7 from the Web to GAMA's members, its staff and the public.

GAMA is one of the latest aviation-related associations to utilize .aero which is being sponsored by SITA. "The .AERO domain location allows us to better position ourselves to serve the needs of the general aviation marketplace," said GAMA Vice President Shelly Simi. "We are excited about the deployment of the GAMA.aero website and believe it demonstrates the importance of standardization of Internet-related processes so that industry specific businesses can compete effectively."

The SITA Director of eBusiness, John Pawlicki, commented, "In order for .aero to succeed in providing a 'sense of community' for the aerospace/aviation industry, we must continue to raise awareness of this initiative, but also define standards for website addressing and Internet applications which interact with other web-based applications and websites, in order to make it easier to find, use and interact with aerospace/aviation firms.
