Which cipher suites are accepted?

To establish an SSL connection to the SRS, the registrar's client system must choose a cipher suite supported by the SRS. The SRS supports the following ciphers:

• SSL_DHE_DSS_EXPORT_WITH_DES40_CBC_SHA

• SSL_DHE_DSS_WITH_DES_CBC_SHA

• SSL_DHE_DSS_WITH_3DES_EDE_CBC_SHA

• SSL_RSA_WITH_DES_CBC_SHA

• SSL_RSA_EXPORT_WITH_DES40_CBC_SHA

• SSL_RSA_WITH_3DES_EDE_CBC_SHA

Which SSL toolkit should I use?

Registrars are responsible for obtaining an SSL toolkit that is compatible with the development language and platform of their client system. The minimum requirement is that it must support SSL version 3.

For C, C++ or Perl, OpenSSL is an open-source SSL solution.

For Java:

• Sun's Java Secure Socket Extension.

• SSLava from Phaos Technology. SSLava also is the toolkit used in the development of the SRS.

While applying for an Aviation Community Membership ID, will the registrant be allowed to associate their Aviation Community Membership ID with multiple registrant classes?

Yes, registrants will be allowed the ability to associate their Aviation Community Membership ID to multiple registrant classes, with subject to SITA's approval e.g. if approved by SITA, a registrant will be allowed to register both airline.aero and airport.aero domain names with the same Membership ID)

Who can change my DNS information?

Registrars execute changes to your DNS information. The change procedure varies according to registrar. Please refer to your registrar's web site for further details or contact them directly.

Who can view my Membership ID?

Only SITA, yourselves and third parties with whom you share the password relating to this ID can view the contents of the ID, either via the web interface on this web site or, for registrars, directly in the registry database. Registrars may for example copy your Membership ID contact to pre-fill your normal registrant contact data.

Who is sponsoring .aero?

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has selected SITA as the sponsoring organization of .aero. SITA is the provider of global information and telecommunication solutions for both the air transport and related industries. SITA, is committed to managing the .aero top level domain for the benefit of the aviation community and on a not-for-profit basis.

Who owns and runs the Internet - the evolving role of ICANN

When the Internet Protocol was first developed, a crowd of networks evolved beginning with the US Government-funded ARPANET. Ultimately they were linked together to create what we know today as the Internet. From the outset, no-one owned the Internet.

Who owns and runs the Internet: the role of W3C

It's easy to forget that, when Tim Berners-Lee first thought up what he called the World Wide Web in 1990, it was intended simply as a tool for the use of fellow scientists associated with CERN, the particle physics research centre that straddles the French/Swiss border near Geneva. The TCP/IP protocol was already offering the infrastructure. Berners-Lee's genius was to find a way of connecting hypertext with the Internet and personal computers.

Who owns and runs the Internet: the special role of ISOC

The Internet Society (ISOC) was launched in January 1992 to "provide assistance and support to groups and organizations involved in the use, operation, and evolution of the Internet". Initially it was envisaged as a professional society supporting development of the Internet as a global research communications infrastructure, led by key luminaries Vint Cerf, Bob Kahn and Lyman Chapin.

Not surprisingly, the purpose of ISOC has subsequently evolved as the Internet has become near-ubiquitous.

WHOIS

Overview

Your Registrar Relations website will have a web interface to the registry's WHOIS server. The results will display in the browser as if the user had typed "whois -h" at the command line.

The most noticeable result of this is that, if you type in a name for some other TLD, it will not return a result. For example, if you enter "afilias.com" into the WHOIS interface for .INFO, it will return "NOT FOUND".
